Is it permissible to perform the funeral prayer in the prayer area of the cemetery?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The honorable Shaykh (may Allah preserve him): There is a prayer area in the cemetery, so is it permissible to perform the funeral prayer in the cemetery in this prayer area?

The Shaykh : Yes, a prayer area, how is the prayer area in the cemetery?

The questioner : A prayer area only, where no prayer is performed except...

The Shaykh : What do you mean by a prayer area? Do you mean a place where the funeral is placed and they pray over it?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, there is no harm in praying over the funeral in the cemetery, because there is no evidence prohibiting it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
the earth has been made for me a place of worship and a means of purification. جعلت لي الأرض مسجدًا وطَهورًا
Sunan Ibn Majah 567Sahih (Darussalam)
, and I do not know of a Sunnah in that, but it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he prayed over the grave, and that was in the case of the woman who used to clean the mosque, meaning: she cleaned it of trash, so she died at night, and it seems they considered her status insignificant and said: We will not inform the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of this,
So when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) asked about her, they said: She died at night. He said: Why did you not inform me? فلما سأل عنها النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قالوا : إنها ماتت ليلا فقال: هلا كنتم آذنتموني
meaning: you informed me, then he said:
Show me her grave, so they showed him her grave, and he went out and prayed over her (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) دلوني على قبرها، فدلوه على قبرها فخرج وصلى عليها صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم
: so that indicates the permissibility of praying over the deceased in the cemetery, and there is no difference between the one who has been buried and the one who has not yet been buried, yes.
