The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Does the man who sees what is wrong and rejects it in his heart, but then remains silent about it, fall among those whom Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, saves from evil, as in the story of the People of the Sabbath?
The Shaykh : The one who sees what is wrong and hates it in his heart, but is unable to reject it with his tongue, is excused, and this is sufficient. However, if he rejects it in his heart, it is not permissible for him to remain with those who are doing it. For Allah the Exalted said:[An-Nisa 4:140]. And what some ignorant people do is remain with the people of evil who commit evil in front of them, smoking or playing forbidden games, and saying, "I hate this in my heart." We say: this is not sufficient. If you truly hate it in your heart, your heart will turn away from it. And if the heart turns away, the limbs will turn away, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 52. Therefore, we say: if you hate it in your heart and are unable to reject it with your tongue, it is obligatory for you to leave the place.
The questioner : If he is able?
The Shaykh : If he is able, he must reject it with his tongue. Yes.
The questioner : Otherwise, he will be among the perished.
The Shaykh : Yes.
The questioner : Otherwise, he will be among the perished.
The Shaykh : Otherwise, he will be sinful. Yes.

And it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them
