What is the difference between the transitive and intransitive names of Allah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Noble Shaykh, what is the difference between transitive names and intransitive names?

The Shaykh : Names of what?

The questioner : A transitive name and an intransitive name.

The Shaykh : Names of what? My name and your name, or what?

The questioner : The names of Allah.

The Shaykh : The transitive names of Allah mean those that extend to others, and the intransitive ones are the non-transitive ones. For example: "The Living": this does not extend to others; life is an attribute in Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that does not extend beyond Him. Do you understand?
What do we call this?
An intransitive name, non-transitive. You must believe in the name and the attribute it indicates, and nothing more.
But if it is transitive, meaning it extends to others, like: "The Creator". The Creator is one of the names of Allah, "The Originator", "The Creator, the Originator" are among the names of Allah. Does it extend to others or not?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes? It extends to others. Creator and created; it extends to others. So it is necessary for the faith to be correct by affirming the name, which is The Creator, affirming the attribute, which is creation, and affirming the ruling, which is that He creates. You do not say: He is only The Creator. It is necessary that you believe He is The Creator and that He creates (Mighty and Majestic). Do you understand now?
"The All-Hearing", which of the two is it?
Is it from the transitive or the intransitive? The question is for you?

The questioner : Transitive.

The Shaykh : Yes? I am asking you now? Raise your voice!

The questioner : I did not hear!

The Shaykh : The All-Hearing is among the names of Allah. Is it transitive or intransitive?

The questioner : Transitive.

The Shaykh : Transitive. And for this reason, Allah said:
Certainly has Allah heard the speech of the one who argues with you قَدْ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ قَوْلَ الَّتِي تُجَادِلُكَ
[Al-Mujadila 58:1]
So it is not sufficient for you to say, "I believe that Allah is All-Hearing and that Allah has hearing," but I do not believe that He hears! This is not permissible. So it is necessary that you believe that Allah is All-Hearing, that He has hearing, and that He hears.
