Benefits of the Hadith: (… whoever sleeps through his portion or part of it and reads it between the Fajr and Zuhr prayers, it is recorded for him as if he had read it at night)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the last hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said
Should anyone fall asleep and fail to recite his portion of the Qur'an, or a part of it, if he recites it between the dawn prayer and the noon prayer, it will be recorded for him as though he had recited it during the night. من نام عن حزبه أو عن شيء منه فقرأه فيما بين صلاة الفجر وصلاة الظهر كتب له كأنما قرأه من الليل
Sahih Muslim 747
. In it is evidence that the Companions had the custom of dividing the Qur'an into portions (ahzaab). A portion (hizb) is a section, and in terms of quantity, a hizb is approximately half a juz, making the Qur'an sixty hizbs. They would read it at night, each according to his own situation. If they were unable to read it at night due to illness or sleep, they would read it during the day, and it would be recorded for them as if they had read it at night. From this hadith, it is understood that if one who makes up an act of worship (qadi) leaves it off for an excuse, he is like the one who performs it in its proper time (adi). Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding prayer
Whoever sleeps through a prayer or forgets it, let him pray it when he remembers it. من نام عن صلاة أو نسيها فليصلها إذا ذكرها
, making its time when it is mentioned. This indicates that it is considered a performance in its proper time (ada'), which is the stronger opinion: that if one leaves off an act of worship for an excuse, and it is time-bound, and he performs it after the time has passed, the correct view is that it is a performance in its proper time (ada'), based on his saying
Let him pray it when he remembers it فليصلها إذا ذكرها
. In reality, there is no difference between saying it is a performance in its proper time (ada') or making it up (qada'), except according to the opinion of those who hold that one must intend it as a performance in its proper time (ada') for the former, and intend it as making it up (qada') for the latter. In that case, the difference appears; otherwise, there is no difference. It is simply said that the one who performs it after the excuse is removed is as if he performed it in its proper time exactly.
It also indicates that a person should adopt a specific portion of the Qur'an to read, so that if he misses it, he makes it up, because this is more organized for him. As for the one who says, "I will read whenever I am free," the time will be wasted for him and he will not read. But if he adopts a specific portion, such as one juz per day or two juz per day, to be consistent with them and then maintain that, there is great benefit in this. Yes.
