Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: Ibn Numayr narrated to us, saying: My father and Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us. And Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us, and the wording is his, saying: Abu Mu'awiyah informed us from al-A'mash from Shaqiq, saying: Abdullah said:
Keep checking these mushafs, and he sometimes said: 'the Qur'an,' for it is more likely to slip from the hearts of men than a camel from its tether. تعاهدوا هذه المصاحف وربما قال: القرءان فلهو أشد تفصيا من صدور الرجال من النعم من عقله
Sahih Ibn Hibban 7:158
He said:
And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let none of you say: 'I forgot such and such a verse,' but rather: 'I was made to forget.'" وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم: لا يقل: أحدكم نسيت ءاية كيت وكيت بل هو نُسّي
