The reciter: Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: My uncle 'Abd Allah ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: 'Amr ibn al-Harith narrated to us from Sa'id ibn Abi Hilar that Abu al-Rijal, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, narrated to him from his mother, 'Umrah bint 'Abd al-Rahman, who was in the care of 'A'ishah, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), from 'A'ishah: That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a man on a military expedition. He used to recite for his companions in their prayers and would conclude with "Say: He is Allah, the One." When they returned, they mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Ask him why he does that?" So they asked him, and he said: "Because it is a description of the Most Merciful, so I love to recite it." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Inform him that Allah loves him.".
