The Book of Friday Prayer, the Two Festivals, the Prayer for Rain, the Eclipse Prayer, and Funerals-01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And 'Amr al-Naqqad narrated to us, Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us from Abu al-Zinad from al-A'raj from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
We who are the last shall be the first on the Day of Resurrection, except that every Ummah was given the Book before us and we were given it after them. It was this day which Allah prescribed for us and guided us to it and the people came after us with regard to it, the Jews observing the next day and the Christians the day following that.
Sahih Muslim 855a

The Shaykh : His statement:
We are the lastنحن الآخرون
means in terms of time, so this Ummah is the last of the nations, but the first on the Day of Resurrection in all arenas. Judgment will be passed between this Ummah before the other nations, their deeds will be weighed before the other nations, their records will be opened before the other nations, they will cross the Sirat before the other nations, and they will enter Paradise before the other nations. In all the arenas of the Day of Resurrection, we are, and praise be to Allah, the first. May Allah make us and you among them.
And his statement:
except that every Ummah was given the Book before us
Sahih Muslim 855a
, "bayda" means "except" or "other than," and it is equivalent to "except" in both weight and meaning. And his statement:
was given the Book before us
Sahih Muslim 855a
means that it is not possible for a Book to be revealed to a Prophet after this Qur'an, as implied by this expression.
And his statement:
It was this day which Allah prescribed for us
Sahih Muslim 855a
: means that it was written for us to revere it, respect it, and establish its rituals, the greatest of which is the Friday prayer.
may Allah guide us to itهدانا الله له
: means that He guided us to it and showed us the way to it.
so the people will follow us in it: the Jews tomorrow, and the Christians the day after tomorrow
So the Sabbath became for the Jews, and Sunday for the Christians. This is from the wisdom of Allah and a manifestation of His favor upon this Ummah, in that even in this world we have witnessed that we are ahead of them in good deeds. The noble time is Friday for us, then the Jews follow, then the Christians. The order between the Jews and the Christians is not an order of virtue, but an order of time, for the Jews are earlier than the Christians.
