The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Numayr narrated to us, saying: Waki' narrated to us from Sufyan from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rafi' from Tamim ibn Tufayl from 'Adi ibn Hatim
That a man delivered a sermon to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has succeeded, and whoever disobeys them has gone astray." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are a bad preacher. Say: 'Whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has gone astray.'" Ibn Numayr said: "He has gone astray."
أن رجلاً خطب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: من يطع الله ورسوله فقد رشد ومن يعصهما فقد غوى فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: بئس الخطيب أنت قل: ومن يعص الله ورسوله قال بن نمير : فقد غوي.
