The Book of Friday Prayer, the Two Festivals, the Prayer for Rain, the Eclipse Prayer, and Funerals-03a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and Ya'qub al-Duqir narrated to us from Ibn 'Ulayyah from Ayub from 'Amr from Jabir from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as Hammad said, and he did not mention the two rak'ahs.

The Shaykh : The strangeness of his statement: "and he did not mention the two rak'ahs"? He said: "Stand up and bow down two rak'ahs," is that how it is with you?
The reader: He referred to it in the commentary.

The Shaykh : What did he say?
The reader: He said:
Stand up and bow down two rak'ahs قم فاركع ركعتين
And in a narration
Stand up and pray the two rak'ahsقم فصل الركعتين
, and in a narration:
Pray two rak'ahs صلِّ ركعتين
, and in a narration:
Have you offered two rak'ahs? He said: No. أركعت ركعتين ؟قال: لا
Sahih Muslim 875d

The Shaykh : The issue here is his statement: "and he did not mention the two rak'ahs."
The student: Even though there was no prior mention of them.

The Shaykh : And there was a prior mention of them, but perhaps the correct version is: "and bow down two rak'ahs," the first wording; perhaps that is the correct one.
