The Book of Friday Prayer, the Two Festivals, the Prayer for Rain, the Eclipse Prayer, and Funerals-04a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: And Muhammad ibn Rafi' narrated to me, and 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, and Ibn Jurayj informed us, and 'Ata' informed me from Ibn 'Abbas and from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ansari, and they both said:
the adhan was not called on the day of the breaking of the fast or on the day of sacrifice. I later asked him, i.e., ‘Ata’, about that, and he told me that Jabir b. ‘Abdallah told him there was no adhan for the prayer on the day of the breaking of the fast when the imam came out or after he came out, no iqama and no summons; there was nothing, no summons or iqama that day

The Shaykh : This is more explicit than what came before in that it is not prescribed to say for it: "The prayer is gathered," because he said: "No call and nothing." Always, the imam comes and moves forward to his place of prayer and the people stand. But does his saying: "No call, and nothing," contradict the imam's saying: "Stand in rows, straighten the rows," or not? The apparent view is that it does not contradict it, because this saying is not for establishing the prayer, but rather for establishing the rows. So his meaning is
And nothing.ولا شيء
: meaning what is related to establishing the prayer. As for the rows, they have no relation to this. It is permissible for the imam, indeed it is recommended for the imam in the festival prayer, to order the people to straighten the row, to be close together, and to fill the gaps, like the other prayers that have rows.
