The Reciter: Chapter on the Prohibition of Hunting for the One in Ihram. Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: I read to Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abd Allah, from Ibn 'Abbas, from al-Sa'b ibn Jathamah al-Laythi:
That he gifted the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a wild donkey while he was at al-Abwa'—or Budan—and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it to him. He said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw what was on my face, he said: We did not return it to you except that we are in a state of ihram.
أنه أهدى لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حمارًا وحشيًا وهو بالأبواء - أو بودان - فرده عليه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، قال : فلما أن رأى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ما في وجهي ، قال : إنا لم نرده عليك ، إلا أنا حرم
