If one intends to perform Hajj alone and then performs 'Umrah on a separate trip, is this better?

The questioner : If someone were to say that he will perform Hajj alone during the months of Hajj, and then undertake another journey for 'Umrah, would it be said that...?

The Shaykh : Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in his manual of rites that this is better without dispute, meaning performing each one on a separate journey. He said it is better without dispute, but if one intends to combine them in a single journey, then tamattu' is better than qiran.
