The reciter: Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna and Ibn Bashshar narrated to us. Ibn al-Muthanna said: Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us. He said: Shu'bah narrated to us. He said: I heard Qatadah narrating from Abu Nudhrah, who said: كان ابن عبّاسٍ يأمر بالمتعة ، وكان ابن الزّبير ينهى عنها ، قال : فذكرت ذلك لجابر بن عبد الله ، فقال : على يديّ دار الحديث ، تمتّعنا مع رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم ، فلمّا قام عمر قال : إنّ الله كان يحلّ لرسوله ما شاء بما شاء ، وإنّ القرآن قد نزل منازله ، فـ أتمّوا الحجّ والعمرة للّه ، كما أمركم الله ، وأبتّوا نكاح هذه النّساء ، فلن أوتى برجلٍ نكح امرأةً إلى أجلٍ ، إلّا رجمته بالحجارة Ibn Abbas used to order people to perform tamattu' (combining 'Umrah and Hajj with a break between them), and Ibn al-Zubayr used to prohibit it. He said: I mentioned this to Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, and he said: This hadith is based on my hand. We performed tamattu' with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When 'Umar took charge, he said: "Indeed, Allah used to make permissible for His Messenger what He willed, as He willed. And the Qur'an has already settled in its places. So complete the Hajj and 'Umrah for Allah, as Allah has commanded you. And I have prohibited the marriage of these women. I will not be brought a man who has married a woman for a fixed term except that I will stone him with stones.".
