The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Ali ibn Masihr narrated to us from Ibn Jurayj from Abu al-Zubayr from Jabir, who said: Sahih Muslim 1273a.
The Shaykh : May Allah send prayers and blessings upon him and grant him peace.
Meaning: they covered him. All of this was so that they could see his actions and follow his example (may Allah be pleased with them). So he rode for these three benefits: first, so that the people could see him and follow his example in what he did, whether by gesture or otherwise; second, so that he could look down upon the people, for he was their shepherd (peace and blessings be upon him), to look down upon them and observe their movements and actions; and third, so that they could ask him.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) circumambulated the House on the back of his riding camel on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage and touched the Stone with his stick so that the people should see him, and he should be conspicuous, and they should be able to ask him (questions pertaining to religion) as the people had crowded round him.
