Is it permissible to listen to the poetry of the Bedouin, or is it not?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He asks: Is it permissible to listen to the poetry of the Bedouin, or is it not?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
Singing that is free from music and other musical instruments, such as the rabab and the like, is permissible to listen to, provided that it does not contain things that lead to fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), and provided that it does not distract a person from what is obligatory upon him, such as performing the prayer in congregation or other duties. However, if it is accompanied by playing of music or other instruments of amusement, it becomes forbidden (muharram) because of these instruments that accompany it. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified the prohibition of musical instruments (ma'azif) to the extent that he associated them with fornication and intoxicants in the hadith of Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, which al-Bukhari narrated, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There will certainly be among my Ummah (the Muslim community) people who will make lawful fornication, silk, intoxicants, and musical instruments. ليكونن من أمتي أقوام يستحلون الحرى والحرير والخمر والمعازف
al-hir الحرى
will make lawful al-hir يستحلون الحرى
By "al-hir" he means the private parts, meaning fornication. Silk is well known, and intoxicants are well known. As for musical instruments, the scholars said that every instrument of amusement played is included, and he did not exclude anything from that. In summary, this singing of the Bedouin, if it does not contain musical instruments, is permissible to listen to with the two conditions mentioned above.

The questioner : Yes, you have done well.
