Some Quotations on the Interpretation of al-Lizam

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Reader: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. These are some quotations on the interpretation of al-Lizam. Al-Nawawi said in his interpretation of al-Lizam that what is meant by it is the saying of the Exalted and Majestic:
so your denial is going to be adherent. فسوف يكون لزاما
[Al-Furqan 25:77]
meaning that His punishment will be binding upon them. They said that this refers to what befell them on the Day of Badr in the form of killing, which is the Great Seizure. He ended there. And al-Mubarakpuri said: "

The Shaykh : The correct view is that al-Lizam is not al-Lazim. That is, al-Lizam means al-Mulazim, because al-Lizam is the verbal noun of lazima, just as qatil is the verbal noun of qatala and mujahid is the verbal noun of jahada. It means that it will be persistent with you.
Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?" For you [disbelievers] have denied, so your denial is going to be adherent. قل ما يعبؤ بكم ربي لولا دعاؤكم فقد كذبتم فسوف يكون لزاما
[Al-Furqan 25:77]
meaning that your denial, and the intended meaning is its punishment, will be persistent with you. Yes.
The Reader: "And al-Mubarakpuri said in ... "

The Shaykh : So, "laziman" conveys a meaning other than "lazim," a meaning different from "lazim." Yes.
The Reader: "And al-Mubarakpuri said in his Tuhfah: It was said that it is the drought. It was said that it is the sticking together of the slain at Badr. It was said that it is the captivity therein, and seventy Qurayshites were taken captive in it. Abu Isa said: Regarding al-Lizam on the Day of Badr, there is a difference of opinion. Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned in his Tafsir that it is the killing that befell them at Badr. This was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud, Ubayy ibn Ka'b, Mujahid, Qatadah, and al-Dahhak. Al-Qurtubi said: On this basis, al-Batshah and al-Lizam would be the same. It was said from al-Hasan: Al-Lizam is on the Day of Resurrection. And it was said from him that it is death. It was said: Your sin will be a punishment binding upon you. This is as in al-Umdah. He ended there. And Ibn Sayyid al-Nas said in al-'Aridah: What I hold is that what is meant by it is taking revenge upon them by His manifestation over them until they believe or they perish. He ended there. Ahmad ibn Sahar "

The Shaykh : May Allah bless you. Shall we begin?
