The Book of Marriage, Breastfeeding, Divorce, Mutual Oath-Swearing, and Manumission-05a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Marwan ibn Mu'awiya narrated to us from 'Umar ibn Hamzah al-'Amri, who said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'd narrated to us, saying: I heard Abu Sa'id al-Khudri say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The most wicked among the people in the eye of Allah on the Day of judgment is the men who goes to his wife and she comes to him, and then he divulges her secret. إن من أشر الناس عند الله منزلة يوم القيامة الرجل يفضي إلى امرأته وتفضي إليه ثم ينشر سرها
Sahih Muslim 1437a
.

The Shaykh : His statement "Indeed, among the most evil" differs from the majority; the majority say "Indeed, among the worst," because the hamzah in khayr (good) and shar (evil) is dropped due to frequent usage, though it may sometimes be found. And his statement
Among the most evil of people in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection من أشر الناس منزلة يوم القيامة
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 18:598
means those who talk about secrets, not about everything, because these people are not equal to polytheists and atheists and the like. But the most evil of people in disclosing secrets are these: the man who approaches his wife and she approaches him, and then he discloses her secret. He says, for example, "I did such and such to her" and "I did such and such," and this happens among the foolish. You find some of the foolish, among the young and the old, talking and boasting, with one of them saying, "I did such and such to her" and "in such and such a manner," and the like.
