The Book of Marriage, Breastfeeding, Divorce, Mutual Oath-Swearing, and Manumission-07b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated it to us, saying: Ubaydah ibn Sulayman narrated to us from Hisham from his father from Aisha that she used to say: أما تستحيي امرأة تهب نفسها لرجل حتى أنزل الله عز وجل ترجي من تشاء منهن وتؤوي إليك من تشاء فقلت إن ربك ليسارع لك في هواك Do you not feel shame, a woman offering herself to a man, until Allah the Mighty and Majestic revealed: 'You may postpone whom you wish of them and take to yourself whom you wish.' So I said: 'Your Lord is not in a hurry for you in your desire.'.

The Shaykh : It means that if a woman offers herself to you, then if you wish, you may postpone her and not decide anything regarding her, and if you wish, you may take her in and make her one of your wives. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to dislike a woman offering herself to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) because she feared that the number of co-wives would increase over her. So instead of her share being nine days, if the number increased to ten, it would become twenty or thirty. Undoubtedly, she loved the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intensely. May Allah be pleased with her and reward her with good. Yes.
