The reciter: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim and Muhammad ibn Hatim narrated to us, and Muhammad ibn Hatim said: Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, and he informed us that Ibn Jurayj informed us, and 'Ata' informed me, saying: "We attended the funeral of Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), at Saraf with Ibn 'Abbas...".
The Shaykh : It is said janazah and jinaazah, and it is said that they mean the same thing, and it is said that al-janazah is the deceased and al-jinaazah (with kasrah) is the bier, so the fathah is for the upper part and the kasrah is for the lower part, yes.
The reciter: Then Ibn 'Abbas said: "This is the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When you lift her bier, do not shake it or jolt it, and be gentle with it. For the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had nine wives, and he would divide his time among eight of them but not with one. 'Ata' said: The one with whom he did not divide his time was Safiyyah bint Huyayy ibn Ahtab".
