The reciter: Muhammad ibn Muqatil narrated to us, Abdullah narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid narrated to us from Qays ibn Abi Hazim from Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari, who said: .
The Shaykh : His statement, may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him: The word "ma" here is superfluous, and the intended meaning is "so whoever among you prays for the people." The evidence from this hadith is his statement: "I never saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) more angry in a sermon than he was on that day." The negation of the seeing does not negate the reality of the existence; he may have been angrier in a sermon than this, but he did not see it. However, he is narrating what he sees. In it is the anger at the sermon for the sake of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). In it is the warning against the imam prolonging the prayer for the people, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In it is that driving people away can be by speech, as well as by action and deed. In it is that it is obligatory to consider shortening in the state of praying for the people. But to what extent? To what the people like, or to what agrees with the Sunnah? The answer is the second. And the evidence for that is the statement of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): "I never prayed behind an imam who was more concise in his prayer and more complete in it than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family)". And on this basis, those who are driven away from the imam's application of the Sunnah, there is no blame on the imam regarding their being driven away, because he did not exceed the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). But if he prolongs more than that, then he is blamed, admonished, and advised. If he complies, that is what is required. And if he does not comply, it is obligatory to remove him from the mosque, because he has committed what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) forbade. In it is the permissibility of a person lagging behind the congregational prayer because of the imam's prolongation.
A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I am late for the dawn prayer because of so-and-so, due to how he prolongs the prayer for us. He said: I never saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) more angry in a sermon than he was on that day. Then he said: O people, some of you are those who drive people away. So whoever among you prays for the people, let him shorten it, for among them are the old, the weak, and the one with a need.
The Shaykh : His statement, may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him:
