Is it permissible to shake out the bed with a sheet or something similar, such as a pillow?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, there is nothing wrong with it. May Allah reward you. It is possible that the one sleeping on it is not a human; it is possible that the one sleeping on it is the jinn, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When any one of you wakes from sleep, let him not dip his hand in (the water he uses for) his Wudu' until he has washed it three times, for none of you knows where his hand spent the night. إذا استيقظ أحدكم من نومه فلا يغمس يده في إناء حتى يغسلها ثلاثا فإن أحدكم لا يدري أين باتت يده
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : This is permissible if it achieves the sufficiency. That is sufficient. In fact, even his saying:
with a part of his garment بصنفة ثوبه
, it is possible that the intended meaning is the garment he wore or the garment that is his property, which includes what I mentioned regarding the sheet and its like. The important thing is to shake out the bed.

The questioner : The edge of the sheet ... .

The Shaykh : It appears that it can take its place, because his saying "with his garment" does not necessarily mean the garment he wore. The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : It is not a strike. May Allah reward you. The intended meaning is shaking. A person comes, for example, with a sheet or a towel or something similar, and then shakes it three times, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said. Understood. Good. Everything that comes to his bed every night, even the apparent meaning of the hadith, even if he does not spread it out, meaning he does not open it before sleeping, because some people ... their bed and do not spread it out except when they sleep. It is better to do this even in this case. As for if he changes the bed ... from the beginning, there is no doubt in this, because a human or the jinn or the shayatin may sleep on it. But even if you did not spread it out except when you sleep, it is better to do this.
