If a dog brings back game that is dead, is it permissible to eat it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... Is it permissible?

The Shaykh : It is permissible if there is no wound in it, though there is a difference of opinion on this. That is, if the dog strangled it and brought it back, is it permissible or not? There is a difference of opinion. The well-known view in the school of jurisprudence is that there must be a wound, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whatever causes the blood to flow. ما أنهر الدم
The second opinion is that it is not a condition, due to the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So eat of what they catch for you فكلوا مما أمسكن عليكم
[Al-Ma'idah 5:4]
The precaution is not to eat it.
