Benefits: Concerning the Affirmation of the Attribute of the Hand and Creation for Allah (Mighty and Majestic)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author introduced this chapter to affirm the Hand, not to affirm creation, because the affirmation of creation is in the preceding chapter. However, there is no objection to the author’s (may Allah have mercy on him) excellent arrangement, where the first chapter is on creation in general, and this chapter is on creation specifically, and with His Hand as well. He the Exalted said:
to that which I created with My hands
[Sad 38:75]
This is a part of a longer verse. When Allah the Exalted created Adam, He commanded the angels to prostrate to him. Iblis was among them, but he was not of them; he was with them, but he did not belong to them. All the angels prostrated, except Iblis, who refused and refused to prostrate. Allah the Exalted said:
except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from the command of his Lord
[Al-Kahf 18:50]
because the original nature of the jinn is disobedience, not obedience, and the angels do not disobey Allah. So the angels prostrated, except Iblis, who refused. Then Allah the Exalted said:
what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands?
[Sad 38:75]
What prevented you? What did he say? He said:
I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay." أنا خير منه خلقتني من نار وخلقته من طين
[Al-A'raf 7:12]
So what prevented him from prostrating was arrogance and haughtiness. And in the knowledge of Allah the Exalted, he was a disbeliever; it is written in the Preserved Tablet that he is a disbeliever. So he became arrogant and refused, saying:
Should I prostrate to one You created from clay?" ءأسجد لمن خلقت طيناً
[Al-Isra 17:61]
meaning, he was created from clay, so he will not prostrate, may Allah protect us from that. Then He the Exalted said to him:
what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands?
[Sad 38:75]
Here He said "to what" (li-ma) and did not say "to whom" (li-man), even though Adam is a rational being among the rational beings. But when the description is intended, the rational being is referred to with "what" (ma), and when the person is intended, the rational being is referred to with "who" (man). Have you seen His saying the Exalted:
And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women
[An-Nisa 4:3]
So marry what is pleasing to you of women, and He did not say "who is pleasing," considering what? The description, and the description is not rational. So here, this created being, Adam (peace and blessings be upon him), has a great status, so considering the description in him is more appropriate than considering the person. Therefore, look at Iblis’s answer: Iblis placed him in the position of a person, so he said:
Shall I prostrate
What?
to one whom You created لمن خلقت
And Allah the Exalted said:
to what You created لما خلقت
because Allah the Exalted intended to exalt Adam, while Iblis intended to belittle him and diminish his status. So he said:
For whom لمن
