The Book of Faith-01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Darimi narrated to us, saying: Marwan, meaning ibn Muhammad al-Dimashqi, narrated to us, saying: Sa'id ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz narrated to us from Sulayman ibn Musa, who said: I said to Tawus, "So-and-so narrated to me such and such." He said: "If your companion is *maliyyan*, then take from him"

The Shaykh : The meaning of *maliyyan* here is: that is, trustworthy, precise, and meticulous; one whose religion is trusted and upon whom reliance is placed. It is as if it is derived from *mala'ah* in wealth. The one who is *mali'* in wealth is the one capable of fulfilling [his obligations], who is not a delayer. There is no ability to fulfill [obligations] unless one has wealth. So *mali'* means the trustworthy, the faithful, the one who preserves [the knowledge]. Yes.
