The reciter: Yahya ibn Habib al-Harithi narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ishaq, who is Ibn Suwayd, that Abu Qatadah narrated, saying: We were with 'Imran ibn Husayn along with a group of us, and Bashir ibn Ka'b was among us. 'Imran narrated to us on that occasion, saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Modesty is all good. He said: Or he said: All of modesty is good. Bashir ibn Ka'b said: We find in some of the books—or wisdom—that some of it is tranquility and dignity for Allah, and some of it is weakness. 'Imran became angry until his eyes turned red, and he said: Do you not see that I am narrating to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and you are disputing it? 'Imran repeated the hadith, and Bashir repeated his statement, and 'Imran became angry. We kept saying: He is one of us, O Abu Najid, there is no harm in him.
