Does the saying: (None of you is a believer...) indicate that it is one of the major sins?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the previous hadiths, it says "None of you is a believer," and in this hadith, it says "he will not enter Paradise." So, do we say that this makes both matters major sins?

The Shaykh : Yes, every sin for which a specific punishment is prescribed is one of the major sins. This is the rule, whether it involves negating faith, negating entry into Paradise, disavowal, or something else, or a curse, or anger.

The questioner : These are among the hadiths of warning, about which some scholars said that they are to be taken at their apparent meaning, which serves to instill fear...?

The Shaykh : This view is weak, because it is said: either the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended what he said, or he did not. If he did not intend it, then his words would be meaningless and of no benefit. If he did intend it, then this warning must be reconciled with the other evidence, and this is necessary. However, yes, issuing this warning necessitates aversion to the act, and it instills awe and fear. Perhaps, if a person does not feel safe from his neighbor's transgressions, he may perform deeds that would cause him to be forbidden from entering Paradise in the future, based on this cause.
