The Meaning of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: (If you avoid the major sins...)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Finally, he asks and says: Allah the Exalted says, I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the outcast: [Al-Nisa: 31] And He says: [Al-Zalzalah: 8]. Please reconcile these two noble verses for us. May Allah reward you with good?
Answer: The first verse is general and encompasses both disbelievers and Muslims. If a servant avoids what is among the major sins, such as associating partners with Allah, unlawful sexual intercourse, theft, drinking intoxicants, and similar major sins, such as undutifulness to parents or one of them, and consuming usury or interest, and the like, then Allah will expiate for him the minor sins that do not carry a specific threat. By avoiding the major sins, Allah expiates the minor sins for him.
So, for the Muslim, the minor sins are expiated by his avoidance of the major sins. And if a disbeliever embraces Islam, leaves associating partners with Allah, and stands firm upon the religion, Allah will expiate his minor sins by his avoidance of the major sins.
As for the noble verse, there is no contradiction between it and the verse [Al-Zalzalah: 8]. It means: he will see it if he is not forgiven. So if avoiding the major sins leads to the expiation of the minor sins, he may still see it...
...because of his avoidance of the major sins. And so it is with all the texts; the reconciliation between them is like this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ...
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed that he said:Sahih Muslim 226b ...
...... minor sins, except through repentance. So if a servant avoids major sins, or repents to Allah with sincere repentance, Allah will forgive him his minor sins out of His grace and kindness (Exalted and Majestic is He). Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins
