The Shaykh al-Islam said: "And despite this, those who were among the rulers used to hold the view of the Jahmiyyah that the Qur'an is created and that Allah is not seen in the Hereafter

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: "And despite this, those who were among the rulers used to hold the view of the Jahmiyyah that the Qur'an is created and that Allah is not seen in the Hereafter, and so on. They called people to this, tested them, and punished them if they did not answer them. They declared disbelievers those who did not answer them, to the extent that when they captured a prisoner, they would not release him until he affirmed the view of the Jahmiyyah that the Qur'an is created and so on. They would not appoint a governor or give a salary from the public treasury except to one who held this view. And despite this, Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) prayed for their forgiveness and sought pardon for them, because he knew that it had not been made clear to them that they were lying to the Messenger and denying what he brought, but rather that they had engaged in figurative interpretation and erred, and followed those who told them so. And likewise al-Shafi'i when he said to Hafs al-Fard: "

The Shaykh : Glory be to Allah. So now, Imam Ahmad declared the Jahmiyyah disbelievers; we know this. And these caliphs and imams called for the doctrine of the Jahmiyyah, called for it, and punished whoever opposed it, and perhaps they declared them disbelievers. And yet, Imam Ahmad prayed for them and asked for mercy for them. If he had considered them disbelievers, he would not have prayed for them or asked for mercy for them. So here there is a difference between declaring a category disbelievers and declaring a specific individual a disbeliever, and this is an important distinction. Yes.
