Explanation of the author's statement: ". . The third aspect: that his belief is that the way of the Salaf is merely believing in the wording of the texts without affirming their meaning"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :" ... the Salaf merely believing in the wording of the texts without affirming their meaning is a false belief ", and he believes that the Salaf believe in the wording of the texts and do not know what their meaning is. For this reason, they say that the madhhab of the Salaf is tafwid, tafwid. And we say to them: this is a lie against the Salaf. If you mean that the Salaf delegate the *how* (kayfiyyah), then it is correct. But if you mean that they delegate the meaning, then it is "a lie against the Salaf, for the Salaf are the most knowledgeable of people regarding the texts of the attributes ", and no one is ever more knowledgeable than the Salaf regarding the texts of the attributes, because they understand more from them than those who came after them.
And they are also the most eloquent in affirming their meanings befitting Allah, for they understand the meaning and affirm it. For this reason, expressions from them will come to us, if Allah wills, namely the famous statement from their imams: they say: "They affirmed them as they came without asking how " "They affirmed them as they came without asking how ". And this indicates that they affirm the meaning. If they had intended only the wording, they would have said: "Affirm their wording and do not believe in their meaning," or they would have said: "The meaning is not known." And Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "The rising (istiwa') is known and the how is unknown ". So they know the meanings. Do you think that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recites the saying of Allah the Exalted
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established. الرحمن على العرش استوى
[Taha 20:5]
and does not know what the meaning of "istawa" (rose) is? No, absolutely not. And do you think that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) recites
to that which I created with My hands لما خلقت بيدي
[Sad 38:75]
and does not know what the meaning of "hands" is? No, this is absolutely impossible. And likewise the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and likewise the Companions and the Tabi'un, and the imams of the community after them, all of them must be knowledgeable of the meanings of the verses of the attributes. If we say that it is impossible for them to recite the saying of Allah the Exalted
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows يا أيها الذين آمنوا إذا قمتم إلى الصلاة فاغسلوا وجوهكم وأيديكم إلى المرافق
[Al-Ma'idah 5:6]
without knowing the meaning, then we say that if this is impossible, then the impossibility of them not knowing the meaning of His saying
The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established. الرحمن على العرش استوى
[Taha 20:5]
is even more certain. Yes, and this is a matter of certainty: they know the meaning of
When you stand up for prayer, wash your faces إذا قمتم إلى الصلاة فاغسلوا وجوهكم
, or do they not know? They know, and they have actually applied it, for they perform wudu' according to what this noble verse indicates. If they know the verses indicating practical rulings, how can they not believe in the verses indicating doctrinal, informational beliefs? This is impossible. So the Salaf believe, they know the meanings of the verses and hadiths of the attributes, and they believe in them, or do they not? And they affirm them, but they disavow two things: namely tashbih (likening Allah to creation) and takyif (asking how an attribute is), yes.
