The Shaykh : Yes, he says "Above His creation, and that He is with them, and that He is with them". The texts came that He is with them in many verses, especially the specific presence, for it came frequently in the Qur'an. He says: "And each of them is definitive in establishment and indication". Definitive in establishment because it is in the Qur'an, and the Qur'an is mass-transmitted, and there is nothing more mass-transmitted than the Qur'an. He says: and indication, the indication because it is explicit in it. So the verses of elevation, or the texts of elevation, are explicit in it, and likewise the texts of presence are explicit in presence, admitting no other interpretation. "And Allah has combined them in His saying, the Exalted
It is He who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne هو الذي خلق السماوات والأرض في ستة أيام ثم استوى على العرش
[Al-Hadid 57:4]
"
Are these six days our days, or are they moments, or are they many years? You do not know? There are three opinions, and the correct one is that they are our days, so they are of their measure, the first being Sunday and the last being Friday.
in six days and then established Himself above the Throne في ستة أيام ثم استوى على العرش
[Al-A'raf 7:54]
And "established" means He rose and settled, with an elevation and settling befitting His Majesty, Blessed and Exalted is He. And it has passed us in the beginning of the discussion that the word "established" occurs in the language in four ways: absolute, restricted with "to," with "upon," and with the "waw." Yes, he said:
and then established Himself above the Throne. He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein ثم استوى على العرش يعلم ما يلج في الأرض وما يخرج منها وما ينزل من السماء وما يعرج فيها
[Al-Hadid 57:4]
What enters the earth, meaning what enters from what? Animals? Yes, animals in their burrows, and beasts, and plants, and the like, and what comes out of it from that, what enters from it comes out, yes. And what descends from the sky is rain, mercy, angels, punishment, and others, and what ascends in it are deeds and angels. And here he said "ascends in it" and did not say "to it" because the intended meaning is that it ascends and enters in it, so the ascent here includes the meaning of entering, yes.
and He is with you wherever you are وهو معكم أينما كنتم
[Al-Hadid 57:4]
Meaning His elevation, Mighty and Majestic, above the Throne does not prevent Him from being with us. So He is with us wherever we are. "Where" is an adverb of place, meaning in whatever place you were, so Allah is with you.
But how do we understand this presence? The people of pantheism, may Allah protect us from that, understood it as Him being with us mixed with us. And they said about Him: if we are in the mosque, He is in the mosque; if we are in the market, He is in the market; in the house, He is in the house; in pure places, He is in pure places; in impure places, He is in impure places. So they made Allah, Mighty and Majestic, may Allah protect us from that, a divided member. And there is no doubt that this statement is invalid, rejected by minds at the first glance, and it necessitates either that Allah is multiple or divided, and both are invalid. And no sane person whom the devils have not deluded can accept that. And the strange thing is that these who say that, if one of them asked his Lord, he would say: O Lord, so-and-so, O Lord, and so-and-so? Or O Lord...
