Explanation of the author's statement: "The third: that these deniers have idols (taghut) whom they imitate and prioritize over what the messengers brought, and they want the judgment in disputes to be with them rather than with the Book and the Sunnah, just as those hypocrites wanted to seek judgment from the idol (taghut) although they were commanded to disbelieve in it."

The Shaykh :"The third: that these deniers have idols (taghut) whom they imitate" Do you see this is the statement of the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah? You do not say: "By Allah, you are severe; you call them idols (taghut)." Do you call their scholars, whom they imitate, idols (taghut)?
The Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him and reward him with good) says: "They have idols (taghut) whom they imitate and prioritize"
The student: They prioritize them.

The Shaykh : I have [it] as "they prioritize" in its state, and they are in that state.
Is it like that with you?
The student: In the old edition.

The Shaykh : Huh? The old edition?
The student: They prioritize them.

The Shaykh : Everyone?
The student : Shaykh, Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.
"They imitate them and prioritize them over what the messengers brought, and they want the judgment in disputes to be with them rather than with the Book and the Sunnah, just as..." etc.
You find them saying, for example: "Come, for example, to what Allah said and what His Messenger said." They say to you: "By Allah, so-and-so said, and so-and-so said, from their scholars whom they follow." They say: "Ibn Arabi said, al-Tilimsani said, Ibn Sina said, so-and-so said, so-and-so said, from these idols (taghut)." They do not accept what the Messenger brought. How do they manage to reject what the Messenger brought? They do not say: "We do not accept Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) because he is a hypocrite." They say: "Are you more knowledgeable than so-and-so?" Yes? If you say: "I am more knowledgeable," he says: "You are lying. So-and-so is more knowledgeable than you. So-and-so is the ocean with no shore, and who are you to object to so-and-so?" Then he says: "This statement is the correct one, because you have no knowledge. And even if you have knowledge, you have no understanding. These are the great scholars. Yes, so their statement is the statement."
These hypocrites also say: "Just as those hypocrites wanted to seek judgment from the idol (taghut) although they were commanded to disbelieve in it."
