Reading from the author's words, with commentary on them and collation of the manuscripts: "And He, the Exalted, said regarding the Christians

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "And He, the Exalted, said regarding the Christians:
O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary
[An-Nisa 4:171]
And He, the Exalted, said:
They have certainly disbelieved who say
[Al-Ma'idah 5:17]
"

The Shaykh : And a Spirit from Him
The reader: "And He, the Exalted, said:
They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is Christ, the son of Mary
[Al-Ma'idah 5:17]
and other such places. Then, exaggeration regarding the prophets "
.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student:
They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the third of three."
[Al-Ma'idah 5:73]

The Shaykh : Yes
And a Spirit from Him وروح منه
And He, the Exalted, said:
They have certainly disbelieved who say
[Al-Ma'idah 5:17]
I read it as I read it.
The student:
They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the third of three."
[Al-Ma'idah 5:73]
No, it is not with me, but it said in the footnote in J and D, adding the saying of Allah, the Exalted:
They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the third of three."
[Al-Ma'idah 5:73]
.

The Shaykh : Yes, very well.
The reader: "
They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is Christ, the son of Mary
[Al-Ma'idah 5:17]
and other such places. Then, exaggeration regarding the prophets and the righteous has occurred among groups of the misguided worshippers and Sufis, until many of them were mixed with the doctrine of indwelling and union, which is uglier than the statement of the Christians, or like it, or less than it. And He, the Exalted, said:
They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary
[At-Tawbah 9:31]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained it to 'Adi ibn Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) that they are:
They made lawful what is forbidden, so they obeyed them, and they made forbidden what is lawful, so they followed them
"
.

The Shaykh : I have with me "so they followed them" in both places.
The reader: "And many of the followers of the worshippers obey some of the ones they hold in high regard in everything he commands, even if it includes making lawful what is forbidden or making forbidden what is lawful. And He, the Exalted, said regarding the misguided:
and monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them except [that they did so] seeking the approval of Allah
[Al-Hadid 57:27]
. And groups of Muslims have been afflicted with the invented monasticism, and Allah knows best what it is. And Allah, the Exalted, said:
Said those who prevailed in the matter, "We will surely take [for ourselves] over them a masjid."
[Al-Kahf 18:21]
So the misguided—indeed, and those against whom wrath was invoked—would build mosques over the graves of the prophets and the righteous. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade his Ummah from that in more than one place, even at the time of his departure from this world—my father and mother be sacrificed for him. Then, many of this Ummah have been afflicted with this. Then, as for the misguided, you will find that most of their religion is established"
..

The Shaykh : These are issues that a student of knowledge should pay attention to. The author is now presenting the issues in which a group of this Ummah resembles those who came before them from the Jews and the Christians.
