The reader: "As for the one who does something and it happens that another person also does it, and neither of them took it from the other, there is a consideration regarding whether this constitutes imitation. However, one may be prohibited from this so that it does not become a means to imitation, and because of the opposition involved in it. This is like the command to dye the beard and trim the mustache, even though the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Change the gray, and do not resemble the Jews. غيروا الشيب، ولا تشبهوا باليهود
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1752Hasan (Darussalam)
is evidence that imitation of them occurs without our intention or action, but merely by leaving unchanged what was created in us. This is more emphatic than coincidental actual agreement."
It was also narrated in this hadith from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
That he prohibited imitating the non-Arabs أنه نهى عن التشبه بالأعاجم
and he said:
He who copies any people is one of them. من تشبه بقوم فهو منهم
Sunan Abi Dawud 4031Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)
Al-Qadi Abu Ya'la mentioned this.
With this, more than one scholar argued for the dislike of certain items of the dress of non-Muslims. Muhammad ibn Abi Harb said: Ahmad was asked about the sandal with the pointed toe that one goes out in. He disliked it for the man and the woman, and said: 'If it is for the latrine and ablution, and I dislike the creaking sandal'
.

The Shaykh : Perhaps it is the creaking sandal (sarrar) with a kasrah, and not without diacritics?
The reader: Without diacritics. May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : The creaking sandal (sarrar) that makes a creaking sound.
The reader: The creaking sandal (sarrar).

The Shaykh : Yes.
The reader: "And I dislike the creaking sandal. He said: 'It is from the dress of the non-Arabs'".
