Reconciling the reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the long surahs in the Fajr prayer with the reports that he recited Surat al-Zalzalah in it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : If we know that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite the long surahs of the final section of the Qur'an in the Fajr prayer, the difficulty may be resolved regarding the established fact that he recited "If the earth is shaken" (Surat al-Zalzalah) in the Fajr prayer, repeating it in the two rak'ahs. It appears that this was during travel, because he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lighten the prayer. As for when he was in his home base, it was his custom not to recite anything other than the long surahs of the final section. Based on this, it is not recommended for us to recite "If the earth is shaken" and repeat it twice in the Fajr prayer on the basis that this is from the Sunnah, because this contradicts the established practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of reciting the long surahs of the final section in the Fajr prayer. As long as it contradicts the established practice and there is no explicit statement that it was done in the home base, it is better to attribute it to what was established in the Fajr prayer during travel. Therefore, it is not recommended to recite and repeat it as some of the brothers do, who have knowledge of hadith and love to adhere to the apparent meaning of the Sunnah, may Allah reward them with good, but they do not look at some of the evidence. This is what we always warn against. We say that a person must have a principle upon which he builds, and he should attribute what deviates from this principle to the principle, because the general rule is that the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is consistent and has known rules and guidelines.
