Clarification that the one who is extreme in religion falls under the hadith: "You will follow the ways of those who came before you."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
But these people who have fallen into extremism are included in the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
you will certainly follow the practices of your predecessors لتركبن سنن من كان قبلكم
Mishkat al-Masabih 5408
So this hadith covers every trait that was committed by those before us, for this Ummah will commit some of it. And when we say "this Ummah," it does not mean the entire Ummah, but rather that some of it may commit it and some may be safe. Therefore, when the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "Who are these saved ones?" he said:
They are those who are upon the same as I and my Companions are upon. هم من كان على مثل ما أنا عليه وأصحابي
Based on this, we say that the extremism of the worshippers is similar to that of whom?
The student: The Christians.

The Shaykh : The Christians. And what is fitting for the Muslim is that his role model be the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.
