The questioner : Bakri Mustafa al-Bakri from the sister country, the sister country, says: The pilgrim Bakri Mustafa al-Bakri did not specify this country. He says: Every year I perform Hajj to the House of Allah, I climb the mountain for viewing, which is the Mount of Mercy in 'Arafah. And this year, I find myself weak due to age, and I am hesitant, fearing that I will perform Hajj and not be able to climb. What should be done? May Allah guide you?

The Shaykh : We say to the brother questioner: Wait, O brother. For climbing the Mount of 'Arafah is not among the prescribed matters. Rather, if a person takes it as worship, it is a religious innovation. It is not permissible for a person to believe it is worship or to act upon it as worship.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most eager of people to do good and the most eloquent in conveying the message and the religion of Allah. He did not climb it, nor did he order anyone to climb it, nor did he approve of anyone climbing it, as far as I know. And thus, climbing this mountain is not prescribed. Rather, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said when he stood behind it on the eastern side:
1 have stayed here (near these rocks), and the whole of Arafat is a place for stay. وقفت ها هنا وعرفة كلها موقف
Sahih Muslim 1218c
And it seems that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is indicating by this that every person should stand in his place and not crowd onto the place where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood.

The questioner : Yes.
