Explanation of the Book of Purification-02

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The new lesson. He said: "From Ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both)". I used to attach a very brief annotation to the narrators and the Companions, for example, 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar died in Makkah and was buried at Dhu al-Hijrah in the year seventy-three, at the age of eighty-seven. This means a concise summary; if you saw this, it would be good. I did this during my student days, but a person should at least clarify the minimum details: birth, death, and age.
"He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When there is enough water to fill two pitchers, it bears no impurity. إذا كان الماء قلّتين لم يحمل الخبث
Sunan Abi Dawud 63Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and in another wording:
It does not become impure لم ينجس
It was narrated by the four, and authenticated by Ibn Khuzaymah, al-Hakim, and Ibn Hibban"
.
He says:
When there is enough water to fill two pitchers إذا كان الماء قلتين
Sunan Abi Dawud 65Sahih (Al-Albani)
The two qullahs is the plural of qullah. What is a qullah? A qullah is understood to be what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned in the hadith of the Ascension, where he said:
Its leaves are like the ears of elephants, and its dates— I think he said its dates— are like the qullahs of Hijr إنّ أوراقها كآذان الفيلة وإن -أظنّه قال نبقها- كقلال هجر
It resembles what we call a jabiyyah, in which water is placed. In the past, they used to cool water in this jabiyyah, which is something like a barrel made of brick that cools the water. Since al-qultan is the dual of qullah, it refers to the qullahs of Hijr. The scholars stated that a qullah holds two qirbahs and a bit. Two qirbahs and a bit; they said the "bit" is understood to be half, because it was not specified, so it is taken as an equal share, just as if I said, "This food is between you two," it would be divided equally between them. So if the share is not specified, it is made equal. So, if it holds two qirbahs and a bit, and we take the bit to mean half, how much are the two qullahs? Five medium-sized qirbahs.
It does not carry impurity لم يحمل الخبث
And in another wording:
It does not become impure لم ينجس
, "it does not carry impurity" means that its effect is not apparent in it. This is what is meant by "it does not carry impurity," and the second wording explains it:
It does not become impure لم ينجس
meaning that if it reaches this amount, then even if impurity falls into it, it does not become impure, because it has reached a large limit in which impurity has no effect.
