Benefits of the hadith (that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to comb his beard during ablution).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It is derived from this hadith: the recommendation of combing the beard. We do not say: combing the beard is obligatory, because that is merely an action, and an action does not indicate obligation by itself.
And among the benefits of this hadith: that it is incumbent to purify the hair growing on the place of the obligation. As for the hair below it, such as the hair on the neck, it is not required. The hair of the eyebrows and the eyelashes was not mentioned, because these do not require combing, as they are few and generally light.
The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) mentioned that the hair growing on the face is divided into two categories:
light, and the second is thick:
The light is that through which the skin is visible, and the thick is that through which the skin is not visible.
Then they divided the purification of this hair into three categories, saying:
As for dry ablution, it is not obligatory except to wipe the surface of the hair, and it is not obligatory for a person to reach the earth to the inside of the hair, whether the dry ablution is for major ritual impurity or for minor ritual impurity.
And as for when the purification is purification from major ritual impurity, it is obligatory to reach the water to the hair, both its surface and its inside, whether it is light or thick. These two are opposites: in dry ablution, it is not obligatory absolutely, and in the full ritual bath from major ritual impurity, it is obligatory absolutely.
And as for the ablution, if it is light and the skin is visible through it, it is obligatory to reach the water to it. If it is thick, it is not obligatory to reach the water to the inside of the hair, and it is sufficient to wash its surface.
Then the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) differed regarding the hanging part of the beard hair: is it obligatory to wash it, or is it not obligatory except what is on the level of the beards only?
The correct view is that washing it is obligatory, because it is included in the generality of the face. And Allah the Exalted said:
So wash your faces فاغسلوا وجوهكم
, and the beard, even if it is long, must be washed by a person in the ablution, either by washing its surface if it is thick, or its surface and its inside if it is light.
The questions came, oh Salim.
