The Shaykh : We begin a new lesson:
"And from Talhah ibn Masrif, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:Bulugh al-Maram 52 Abu Dawud narrated it with a weak chain":
Sunan Abi Dawud 139Da'if (Al-Albani): This means he takes a mouthful for gargling and a mouthful for snuffing.
If it is three times, the mouthfuls become six: three for gargling and three for snuffing. But the author says of this hadith: "It is weak", although some jurists acted upon it and said: It is permissible to gargle three times and then snuff three times, so the mouthfuls become six. But the more correct opinion, which follows, is more correct than this.
"And from Talhah ibn Masrif, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
I saw Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) rinsing his mouth and sniffing up and blowing his nose with separate scops of water.
رأيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يفصل بين المضمضة والاستنشاقrinsing his mouth and snuffing up water separately
