Benefits of the Hadith (Whoever Relieves Himself, Let Him Cover Himself)

The Shaykh : Among the benefits of this hadith is the indication that people in the past used to relieve themselves in open areas, or in low-lying, secure places within the town.
Another benefit of this hadith is the obligation to cover oneself for one who relieves himself, because this is the apparent meaning of the command. However, the legal principles indicate that it varies: covering the 'awrah (part of the body that must be covered) is obligatory, while covering anything beyond that is a recommended practice (sunnah).
