The questioner : This letter says the name is your brother the repentant, to the face of Allah the Exalted, from the Republic of Iraq, from the province of Baghdad. He says that I performed deeds that were not pleasing to Allah or to His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and now the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate has guided me after I was in clear error. I always thank Allah for this great blessing He has bestowed upon me. I knew that I was performing the obligatory prayers required of us Muslims, and I read the Qur'an and completed three recitations of it. He says my tongue has also changed, and Allah guides whom He wills. I always ask Allah, the Exalted and Sublime, to accept my repentance and forgive me. I hope that the scholars of the Muslims will benefit me, and I offer them abundant thanks for this repentance and for the extent of the forgiveness. Will my repentance be accepted and my sins forgiven? What is my fate? Thank you?

The Shaykh : We say that if a person repents to his Lord from his sin with sincere repentance, Allah will forgive his sin, whatever it may be, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." قل يا عبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله إن الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
[Az-Zumar 39:53]
Sincere repentance is that which gathers five conditions. The first is that it be pure for Allah, the Exalted and Sublime. The second is that it be in the time when repentance is accepted, which is before death and before the sun rises from the west. The third is that he regrets what occurred from him. The fourth is that he abandons it. The fifth is that he resolves not to return to it in the future.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : If these conditions are met, then the repentance is sincere repentance, and Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, loves those who repent and loves those who purify themselves.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.
