Machine translationRead the Arabic original
In order to avoid the prohibition, and His saying:
and expect the Last Day وارجوا اليوم الآخر
[Al-'Ankabut 29:36]
He said: "Fear Him" It is also possible that the meaning is to hope for what is in it of reward and recompense, for it is suitable for both this and that. It is one of the names of opposites that indicates a thing and its opposite. And His saying:
the Last Day اليوم الآخر
It is the Day of Resurrection, and it was named "the Last" because there is no day after it, for people have four stages: the first stage is in the womb, the second stage is in this world, the third stage is in the graves, and the last stage is when? The Day of Resurrection. For this reason, it was named the Last Day, for it is the last thing, the last stage that will be for a person is this day, so it was named the Last Day.
and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption." ولا تعثوا في الأرض مفسدين
[Al-Baqarah 2:60]
Do not cause corruption, do not make mischief. And on this basis,
as corruptersمفسدين
The author said in it: "A state that confirms its operative cause" And what does "confirms it" mean? That is, in its meaning. And is this confirmation verbal or semantic? Strange!
The student: Semantic

The Shaykh : Why?
The student: Not from ...

The Shaykh : It is not from the root of the verb. If he had said: "Do not corrupt in the earth, corrupting," it would have been verbal. But here, it is semantic, for he confirmed it by meaning, for the corruption, the author says: "from
Athiyaعَثِى
with the kasrah of the muthallathah, to corrupt"
It is said: "Athiya ya'thi" like "fariha yafrah." Do you not know the chapters? The chapters of conjugation, how many are they?
The student: Eight

The Shaykh : Six, among them: the chapter of Fa'ila yaf'alu, like "faraha yafrah" and "radiya yarda" and "athiya" according to the author's opinion, "ya'thi." And it is permissible that it be from the chapter of Fa'ala yaf'ulu, "atha ya'thu." Yes, and both mean "to corrupt." For this reason, the author said: "to corrupt" And his saying:
and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption." ولا تعثَوْا في الأرض مفسدين
[Al-Baqarah 2:60]
The prohibition here is clear, for this reason the verb was made jussive with the letter nun: "Do not corrupt." Why is the corruption? Is the intended corruption physical, like demolishing buildings, corrupting rivers, cutting down trees, and the like, or is the intended corruption semantic, or both? Both. So corruption is not permissible, even in material matters. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited the wasting of wealth. {What is this place? ...} I say: Corruption in the earth includes corruption by sins and physical, material corruption. Yes, and the evidence for this is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited the wasting of wealth. And Abu Dawud narrated that they were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, so they stopped in a land, and he prohibited them from cutting down its trees because they were for shade, so it is corruption of it. What is the response of these people to this call that calls to good and forbids evil? It calls to good in his saying:
worship Allah and expect the Last Day اعبدوا الله وارجوا اليوم الآخر
[Al-'Ankabut 29:36]
and forbids evil in his saying:
and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption." ولا تعثوا في الأرض مفسدين
[Al-Baqarah 2:60]
