The questioner : The listener also asks whether it is permissible to use shampoo or soap instead of the sidr known as al-khabt in the ritual bath for menstruation or post-natal bleeding, because some people say that nothing purifies except sidr. May Allah reward you with the best reward?

The Shaykh : Sidr is not obligatory for purification from menstruation or post-natal bleeding, and purification is achieved without it. If a woman purifies herself with what serves as a substitute for sidr in purification, there is no blame on her.

The questioner : From Iraq, and from Baghdad, this message reached us from Muhammad Jassim.
