And those who have been given knowledge
ويرى الذين أوتوا العلم [Saba 34:6]
The verse, and it is four; it is possible it is four, four is the correct number. It is four or fifty-five verses; the correct statement is that it is four. His statement that it is Meccan except for such-and-such: the Meccan, according to the well-known view, is what was revealed before the Hijrah, and the Medinan is what was revealed after the Hijrah. The majority considers the Meccan and Medinan status by time, not by place. So whatever was after the Hijrah is Medinan, and whatever was before it is Meccan. And his statement:
And those who have been given knowledge
ويرى الذين أوتوا العلم [Saba 34:6]
It has been mentioned to us previously that no exception is accepted for any of the Meccan or Medinan surahs except with evidence. That is, if the surah is Meccan, then all its verses are Meccan except with evidence, and if it is Medinan, then all its verses are Medinan except with evidence. So regarding the author’s exception for this verse, we will look into it, if Allah wills, when we reach it. If there is evidence indicating that it was revealed in Medina, we will accept it; otherwise, we will not.
