Reading from the author's text with commentary and collation of manuscripts

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "As for the habit of addressing one another in a language other than Arabic, which is the emblem of Islam and the language of the Qur'an, until it becomes the custom of the city and its people, or of the household, or of a man with his companion"

The Shaykh : Or of a man
The reader: Or

The Shaykh : Or of a man with his companion, meaning I mentioned three categories
The reader: "Or of the household, or of a man with his companion"

The Shaykh : The city, the people of the household, and perhaps the neighborhoods, or a man with his companion, yes
The reader: "Or of a man with his companion, or of the market people, or of the princes, or of the people of the diwan, or of the people of jurisprudence, there is no doubt that this is disliked, for it is imitating the non-Arabs, and that is disliked as previously mentioned. For this reason, the early Muslims, when they settled in the land of Sham and Egypt, where the people's language was Roman, and in the land of Iraq and Khurasan, where the people's language was Persian, and the people of the Maghrib"

The Shaykh : And four
The reader: I have and the people

The Shaykh : No, and four
The reader: He pointed to the manuscript

The Shaykh : Yes, and what does it say
The reader: In the jīm and dāl, and four

The Shaykh : Yes, that is more correct
The reader: "And the people of the Maghrib, where the people's language was Berber, they accustomed the people of these lands to Arabic, until it prevailed among the people of these cities: their Muslims and their disbelievers. And so it was in Khurasan in the past. Then they became lax in the matter of language and accustomed to addressing one another in Persian"

The Shaykh : They became heavy
The student: They became lax

The Shaykh : They became lax, yes, good
The reader: "Then they became lax in the matter of language and accustomed to addressing one another in Persian, until it prevailed over them and Arabic became neglected by many of them. There is no doubt that this is disliked. The good path is to accustom oneself to addressing one another in Arabic"

The Shaykh : That this is disliked, and that
The reader: I don't have it

The Shaykh : And the path
The reader: The good path

The Shaykh : Ah?
The reader "The good path"

The Shaykh : And it is "innama" without a wāw, I say without a wāw, do you have it
The Reader: Yes.

The Shaykh : Easy
The reader: "The good path is to accustom oneself to addressing one another in Arabic, so that the young ones learn it in the schools and in the houses, and the emblem of Islam and its people becomes apparent"

The Shaykh : So that they learn it without a tā, drop it... yes, this is what I have... I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him...
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
As for what follows: The Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in *Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim*
"The good path is to accustom oneself to addressing one another in Arabic, so that the young ones learn it in the schools and in the houses, and the emblem of Islam and its people becomes apparent, and it becomes easier for the people of Islam to understand the meanings of the Book, the Sunnah, and the speech of the Salaf. This is unlike one who has accustomed himself to a language and then wants to switch to another, for it becomes difficult"
