Reading from the author's words with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "So exalting the Mawlid and making it a season, some people may do this

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: and his Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions
As for what follows, the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim "So exalting the Mawlid and making it a season, some people may do this, and they may have great reward in it for the goodness of their intention and their exalting of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), as I have presented to you that what is good from some people is what is ugly from the steadfast believer. For this reason, it was said to Imam Ahmad about some of the princes: that he spent on a mushaf"

The Shaykh : Indeed, he
The reader: "that he spent a thousand dinars on a mushaf, or something like that, and he said: Leave them, for this is the best in which they spent their gold, or as he said. Even though his school holds that decorating the mushafs is disliked. And some of the companions interpreted that he spent it on improving the calligraphy"

The Shaykh : the paper, the paper and the calligraphy
The reader: "that he spent it on improving the paper and the calligraphy. And this is not Ahmad's intention; rather, his intention is that this act has a benefit, and it also has a harm for which he disliked it. So if these people do not do this, otherwise they will substitute it with corruption in which there is no good, such as spending it on a book from the books of immorality: from the books of fables or poetry, or the wisdom of the Persians and Romans. So be alert to the reality of the religion, and look at what the actions contain of the Shari'ah benefits and harms, such that you know the ranks of what is right and the ranks of what is wrong, so that you prioritize the most important of them when they conflict, for this is the reality of the knowledge with which the messengers came, for distinguishing between the type of what is right and the type of what is wrong, or the type of evidence and what is not evidence, is often easy"

The Shaykh : In my view, it is difficult
The reader: He said

The Shaykh : It is easy, a copy
The reader: No, he did not say a copy, O Shaykh, but he mentioned that this is found in the treatise on enjoining good and forbidding evil by the author, like this

The Shaykh : Ah?
The reader: He mentioned that this is found in the treatise on enjoining good and forbidding evil by the author, like this

The Shaykh : Yes, in any case, this passage is very important, and a person should write it down, because it has great benefit for those who look at the harm without looking at the benefits that accompany it. And Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, says
They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." يسألونك عن الخمر والميسر قل فيهما إثم كبير ومنافع للناس وإثمهما أكبر من نفعهما
[Al-Baqarah 2:219]
And this indicates that if the sin of a thing is less than its benefit, then there is nothing wrong with it, meaning the harm is submerged in the side of the benefit. Yes, that is right.
