Reading from the author's text with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "And from this chapter also

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: As for what follows: The Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in *Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim* "And from this chapter also are places that are said to contain a trace of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or others, which are compared to the Station of Ibrahim in Makkah, just as the ignorant say about the Rock in Bayt al-Maqdis that it contains a trace of the treading of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). It has reached me that some of the ignorant claim that it is from the treading of the Lord, Glorified and Exalted is He. They claim that that trace is the place of the foot. And in a mosque before Damascus and in a mosque"

The Shaykh : And this also exists; they say this is the resting place of the Prophet's camel, this is the place of the Prophet's birth, and the like of that. Until we saw a mosque on the slope of a mountain behind al-Ta'if, where they say this is the place of the Prophet's elbow (peace and blessings be upon him), and they call it the Mosque of the Elbow. Some of the foolish go there and revere it, saying that when the people of al-Ta'if drove the Prophet out, he went to this place and placed his elbow like this, as if regretting. Yes, they narrate it as if it were a story, even though the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not go there, because it is east of al-Ta'if, and Makkah is west of al-Ta'if. But this is from lying. And as for Bayt al-Maqdis, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not go to Bayt al-Maqdis after the prophethood at all, nor did he reach it. Yes.
The reader: "And in a mosque before Damascus called the Mosque of the Foot, there is also a trace that is said to be the trace of the foot of Musa (peace be upon him). And this is false with no basis. Musa did not enter Damascus or its surroundings. Likewise, there are shrines attributed to some of the prophets or the righteous based on the claim that he was seen there in a dream"

The Shaykh : Seen, not narrated
The reader: Seen with a hamza

The Shaykh : Yes
The reader: "Seen there in a dream. Seeing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or a righteous man in a dream in a location does not obligate a virtue for that location such that the location is sought for its sake and made a place of prayer, by the consensus of the Muslims" Heard

The Shaykh : Yes
The reader: "Only the People of the Book do this and the like of it, and perhaps they depict an image of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)"

The Shaykh : Not what I have, (peace and blessings be upon him)
The reader: Yes, my tongue got ahead of me

The Shaykh : Yes
The reader: I say my tongue got ahead of me

The Shaykh : The tongue got ahead
The reader: Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes
The reader: "And perhaps they depict an image of the Prophet or the righteous man or some of his limbs, imitating the People of the Book, as was the case in some of the mosques of Damascus, a mosque called the Mosque of the Hand, in which there is a statue of a hand that is said to be the hand of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah honor his face), until Allah demolished that idol. And these places are numerous and found in most of the lands. And in the Hijaz there are places like a cave to the right of the road when you are going from Badr to Makkah, which is said to be the cave in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Abu Bakr were, and that it is the cave which Allah mentioned in His saying, the Exalted"

The Shaykh : In the Qur'an, in His saying
