Commentary on Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim-23a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "And Muslim narrated from Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who said:
Do not make your homes like graveyards, for Satan flees from the house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited
, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) followed the prohibition of making it a festival with his saying:
Pray
"

The Shaykh : This hadith contains a benefit, which is that recitation is not prescribed in graveyards; recitation is not prescribed in graveyards, because he said:
Do not make your homes like graveyards, for Satan flees
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 59:42
This indicates that the graveyard is not a place for recitation. Therefore, whoever goes to recite a khatmah, as they say, at the grave or in the graveyard, is an innovator, and this is prohibited. Has the question come?
The reader: No, not yet.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The reader: "Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) followed the prohibition of making it a festival with his saying:
But invoke blessings on me, for your blessings reach me wherever you may be.
Sunan Abi Dawud 2042Sahih (Al-Albani)
And in the other hadith
For your greetings reach me wherever you are
By this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated that the blessings and greetings you bestow upon me are received whether you are near my grave or far from it, so you have no need to make it a festival.
And the hadiths from him that our blessings and greetings are presented to him are numerous, such as: what Abu Dawud narrated from the hadith of Abu Sakhr Humayd ibn Ziyad, from Yazid ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Qusayt, from Abu Hurayrah: that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) "

The Shaykh : In my copy: " (may Allah be pleased with him) " I have chosen this for you, provided you do not deviate from it; this is good.
The reader: I do not have it, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : You do not have it. Yes.
The reader: "From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
If any one of you greets me, Allah returns my soul to me and I respond to the greeting.
Sunan Abi Dawud 2041Hasan (Al-Albani)
(peace and blessings be upon him). And this hadith is on the condition of Muslim.
And such as what Abu Dawud also narrated "
.

The Shaykh : And glory be to Allah, the conditions of the Hereafter and the graves astound the minds. Who can count the Muslims sending blessings upon the Prophet at one single moment, and yet each one who sends greetings to him, Allah returns his spirit to him so that he returns the greeting, whether near or far. Allah is the Greatest, yes.
The reader: "And such as what Abu Dawud also narrated from Aws ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Increase in sending blessings upon me on Friday and the night of Friday, for your blessings are presented to me. They said: O Messenger of Allah, how are our blessings presented to you when you have been reduced to dust? He said: Indeed, Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the prophets
"
.
The student: The time for questions has come, O Shaykh.
