The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon the noblest of the prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The Shaykh As for what follows: Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in *Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim*: "And none of the Companions went to the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or any other grave to seek rain at it or through it. The scholars recommended sending greetings to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) based on the hadith in Sunan Abu Dawud from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
If any one of you greets me, Allah returns my soul to me and I respond to the greeting.
Sunan Abi Dawud 2041Hasan (Al-Albani)
This is in addition to what is in al-Nasa'i and others from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Indeed, Allah has assigned angels to my grave to convey to me the greetings of my Ummah
.
And in Sunan Abu Dawud and others from him, he said:
Increase your prayers for me on the night of Friday and the day of Friday, for your prayers are presented to me. They said: O Messenger of Allah, how are our prayers presented to you when you have perished?—meaning, when you have died. He said: Indeed, Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the flesh of the Prophets
. So praying for him—my father and mother be his ransom—and sending greetings to him is what Allah and His Messenger have commanded."

The Shaykh : His saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
for Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets
Sunan Ibn Majah 1637Da’if (Darussalam)
contains attributing prohibition to something that does not possess intellect, because the address is directed to whom? To one who possesses intellect. But all created things, in relation to the address of Allah, are considered intelligent. For this reason, when He ascended to the heavens while they were smoke,
and said to it and to the earth, "Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion." They said, "We have come willingly."
[Fussilat 41:11]
and this description is a description for one who possesses intellect. For this reason, they said:
We have come, in obedience.
using the plural of masculine sound, which is only for the intelligent, because by directing the address to them and their response, they became in the position of the intelligent.
Likewise, the prohibition of the earth consuming the flesh of the Prophets is of this nature. And it is obligatory for us to believe in this, that the flesh of the Prophets cannot be consumed by the earth.
As for other than the Prophets, the original rule is that the earth consumes the flesh of the human being, and nothing remains except the *ajb al-dhanab* (the coccyx). The *ajb al-dhanab* is a small thing that remains by the permission of Allah, which the earth does not consume; it becomes like a seed for the body at the resurrection. As for the rest of the body, it decays.
And the body may remain as a *karamah* (miracle) for the person. The body of a person other than the Prophets may remain as a *karamah* for him.
And some people have told us many times that they dug a foundation for the city wall and found a dead man, dried out, with his hair still present. When the grave was opened, a scent rose from him that was sweeter than the scent of musk. Allahu Akbar. They found the man as he was, but dried out, even the hair on his face remained. Subhan Allah. And this was from many years ago. They spoke with Shaykh Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman Babatin (may Allah have mercy on him) about what was conveyed to me, and he ordered them to return him to his place and to divert the wall from him, either by moving it in or out.
So the important point is that what we are certain of is that the earth does not consume what? The bodies of the Prophets. As for others, it may not consume them as a *karamah* for them. Yes.
The reader: "And it is established in the authentic hadith that he said: 'Whoever prays for me once'"

The Shaykh : And in this is evidence for an important issue in creed, that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) do not miss anything from the matters of the unseen that requires clarification without inquiring about it. For this reason, they said:
How can that be when you have perished?
and he answered them.
And we take from this benefit that it is not permissible for us to speak or delve into the issues of the attributes if it has not come from the Companions, because they are more eager than us, smarter than us, and more intelligent than us, but they are more awe-struck than us to precede Allah and His Messenger. Yes.
