The questioner : He says: I took a commodity from a group of people by an agreement made between me and them that I would sell their commodity and inform them of its value, and buy for them a larger and more valuable commodity, on the condition that they pay me the extra amount. I did everything they asked of me. I took it and informed them of the value of the commodity I sold, and they agreed and accepted the same previous agreement. When I brought them the new commodity, they refused to pay the extra amount and wanted to price their commodity at the current price, knowing that it is several times higher than it was that day. Please inform us what I should do with these people? Should I sue them for my right according to the agreement, or should I accept it from them at a loss to me? And will it be riba if they take this money from me? Thank you.

The Shaykh : This is your right. If you wish to forgive them, there is no blame on you. If you wish to sue them, there is no blame on you. However, you must prove that they appointed you to sell this commodity and to buy for them the current commodity, even if its price is higher than the first one. If that is proven, they are obligated to fulfill what they committed to. Yes.

The questioner : Yes, thank you. May Allah reward you.
